Description:
Immerse yourself in the sights, sounds and smells of a venerable route with almost two hundred years of history, along which trains still carry passengers and cargo in the Kent countryside. With a wide selection of locomotives and wagons whizzing along the rails between lovingly recreated stations, this road is designed for all fans of the English railway! The South Eastern Railway Company was founded in 1836 to build a railway line that was supposed to connect London and the coastal city of Dover, a key port supporting maritime communication with continental Europe. The road was relatively calm, but busy at the same time. The transportation of passengers, fruits and hops became the basis for the line between Maidstone and Paddock Wood. Despite the disapproval of the locals and even the mayor of the county´s main town, few could deny that the road proved its benefits. Moreover, the benefits were so great that it was decided to extend the route further north through the beautiful Midway Valley. One of the amazing features of the road was that the Midway Valley path retained its semaphore signaling system until 2005, when the line was finally brought to modern color light signaling standards. However, some semaphores are still open and can be seen in the game, such as at stations such as Caxton, where the level crossing is still manually controlled. Nowadays, the road is operated by the railway operator Southeastern. The main trains are still the same and usually consist of three-car Class 375/3 Electrostars, although Class 466 is sometimes used, and in previous years Class 465 was also used. Additional trains were tested in 2011 and began operating continuously: Southeastern´s high-speed Class 395 runs during morning and evening rush hours between Maidstone West and London St. Pancras Station, stopping only at Snodland. After being transferred to Train Simulator, the Medway Valley Line (Midway West Road) will complement the Chatham Main Line (Main Chatham Road), sending you on the most peaceful route of the Southeastern operator, while at the same time allowing you to unlock the possibilities of freight transportation through the local picturesque rural areas. Kent got the nickname "The Garden of England" for a reason, so go there and take a look at it for yourself!
