In the second expansion of Civilization VI, Gathering Storm, the world around you will come to life.

On your way to victory, you will need to use advanced technologies and engineering projects, participate in the World Congress, and engage with the global community on key issues.

• NATURAL PHENOMENA: Volcanoes, storms (snowstorms, sandstorms, tornadoes, and hurricanes), climate change, floods, and droughts.
• POWER AND CONSUMABLE RESOURCES: Strategic resources have a special role in the Gathering Storm expansion: they now serve as fuel for power plants and are used to generate electricity in cities.
• ENGINEERING PROJECTS: Change the world and conquer nature. Build canals, dams, tunnels, and railroads. When laying out new cities, keep in mind that coastal lowlands may be flooded. On the other hand, in the late game, new technologies (such as seawalls) will help protect the coast from the elements.
• WORLD CONGRESS: Make your voice heard around the world. Earn diplomatic favor by forming alliances, influencing city-states, and competing in the World Games.
• 21ST CENTURY TECHNOLOGIES AND CIVICS: A new era has been added to the Tech and Civics tree. Survive natural disasters with futuristic technologies like sea settlements and carbon capture.
• NEW LEADERS AND CIVIL STATES: Nine leaders and eight civilizations have been added. Each leader and civilization has unique advantages and playstyles. There are also nine unique units, four buildings, three improvements, two districts, and one governor.
• New Scenarios:
- Black Death – The Black Death, which raged across Europe and the Middle East in the mid-14th century, claimed more lives than any other event in human history. The pandemic killed millions, wiped out entire countries, and brought an end to ruling dynasties. European civilization has changed forever.
- War Machine – On the eve of World War I, the German General Staff devised a daring plan: invade neutral Belgium and from there strike at the heart of France, preventing it from mobilizing.
• NEW CONTENT: Added seven new wonders of the world, seven natural wonders, 18 units, 15 improvements, 9 buildings, 5 districts, 2 city sets, 9 technologies, and 10 civics.
• IMPROVED GAMEPLAY: Added new variants to the espionage system, revised conditions for cultural and scientific victories, added new historical moments, and made changes to existing systems.
